2015 is a great year to be a gamer. The recent releases of critically acclaimed hits like, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Rocksteady’s final entry to the Arkham saga: Arkham Knight is just the tip of the gaming iceberg. As the year enters into the summer and the holiday season closely ahead, the gaming sphere awaits some of the most anticipated video games.
1) Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
Regardless of the entire Konami disaster with series creator Hideo Kojima, the Metal Gear franchise still looks better than ever. It is reportedly assumed to be the last entry in the series—for real this time, due to Kojima’s possible departure from Konami as soon as the game launches. The Phantom Pain takes place after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, where the legendary soldier Naked Snake, aka: Big Boss resumes his deep investigation during an era of the rising threat of metal gear and advanced war tactics. The stealthy espionage motif will take precedence as the game enters the trend of the “open world” mechanic. What better way to exploit military combat and stealth with the ability to freely explore the world of Metal Gear? The Phantom Pain is planned for a September 1st release.
God of War 3 Remastered: coming exclusively to the Ps4. It is a completely remastered version of the highly successful third entry of God of War series. Expect to punish the Greek gods of Olympus again on July 17th
Godzilla: The big guy finally comes back to western consoles, following the footsteps of its successful Hollywood reboot. Monster favorites like, King Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and Godzilla will rampage on July 17th
2) Super Mario Maker
Nintendo fans still wait for an appropriate 1st party game, but in the meantime, Super Mario Maker will incite imaginations all over. Nintendo will loosen the reins on its most beloved franchise and give creative control to the players. Design the very levels that the Mario brothers will play in. Super Mario Maker is reminiscent of SNES’s Mario Paint; it is an interactive creation tool video game which uses the Wii U GamePad to control how game levels are designed and should be played. Manipulate behavior of various elements—like stacking an ominous tower of goombas. With Amiibo capability to dress up your Marios, Super Mario Maker will also come with an online feature, to share and download game worlds from other players. Destiny: The Taken King expansion releases on September 15th undoubtedly continuing the massive multiplayer shooter’s lore and augmenting character levels with new gear and weapons.

3) Halo 5: Guardians

4) Rise of the Tomb Raider
After the huge success of the Tomb Raider reboot, the adventure of Lara Croft continues in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Lara Croft’s last experience in Yamatai has scientifically proven that the supernatural is real. Lara must search the world for mythical and rumored supernatural sites to prove her credibility and regain her sanity. Following the success of Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider will feature more tombs to raid, more real-world-inspired secrets to discover, and more dangers to confront as Lara Croft is set on the journey to mark the beginning of her destined life as a world renowned archaeologist. Gameplay mechanics return from the previous installment, players will be able to use Lara’s famous dual pistols, stealth sneak attacks, and hunt wild life to survive. 5) Star Wars: Battlefront
The infinitely beloved shooter based on the Star Wars universe will be rebooting to reflect closely to the film adaptations. With the Star Wars franchise making its return to the silver screen in 2015. It is only appropriate to hype fans of the series with a brand new Battlefront. Gamers have been clamoring for a new installment since the Ps2 era and finally they will be able to relive some of the most famous battles in the Star Wars universe in full upscale detail. Like Battlefront’s predecessors, the ability to play in first or third person perspectives will be available. Fight as the Empire and unmercifully annihilate the Rebel Alliance, or fight for the freedoms of the galaxy against the galactic Empire on November 20th
